Nature Trail- Karnala Bird Sanctuary.

Nature Trail- Karnala Bird Sanctuary.

Objective: When we started out as a club, our plan was to start with a bang and at the same time we wanted to know the level of knowledge of our members in this field. So it was decided that keeping the theme as nature we shall go for a nature trail and a trek so that members are treated with nature’s beauty and also fun.

Report: On the 4th of July, 2010, The Photography Club of Podar (PCP) successfully held its debut outdoor trip to Karnala Bird Sanctuary.

The trip was conducted under the leadership of Prof. Tejashree Patankar (Chairperson), Parag Vaidya (Secretary) and Priyanka Kanani (Joint-Secretary) aided by the entire team of The Photography Club. A total of 48 students had occupied a 54-seater bus with the addition of a minibus for the remaining students.

Following a rain-drenched early morning, the bus reached the Sanctuary at 9:45 am. The journey time included a halt at Kamats restaurant where the students were helped with a South-Indian breakfast. At the sanctuary, the students were divided into 4 groups led by a Leader and a Co-leader chosen among the students with trekking experience and each group was assigned a Professional trekker, equipped with trekking experience of over ten years.

The beginning of the trek was encouraging because of the plain and sometimes rocky surfaces. After about an hour and a half of continuous trekking and clicking pictures simultaneously, gravity started to feel doubly powerful for the majority. But the view promised at the end was a great motivation for all of us; and a treat it was. All of us used our amateur photography skills to the hilt by picking few from others and giving some back.

So all in all, it was a great trip, rounded up with an appetizing evening brunch at McDonald’s!
